Mountaineering Courses

Nepal based courses to prepare you for the mountains!

Learn from UIAGM / IFMGA qualified and other experienced guides.  Come and join Expedition Base and learn mountain skills in a supportive environment with a highly skilled team.  If you think you can give it a go, then you can.  If you think you can’t give it a go, then Expedition Base's experience tells us you can and we can help you do it!
Each course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to move onto the next course.  Each course can be followed by a climb of a peak suited to your level of skill.  Let Expedition Base help get you to the next level and your first or next peak.  We have fixed itinerary courses, and we can also tailor a course to your knowledge, skills and experience.
One highlight for many Expedition Base clients is to be able to ice climb and learn on the ice pinnacles near Everest Base Camp (and maybe even sleep amongst them!), at the base of the world’s highest mountain, Mt Everest.  Something you will want to do more than once in a lifetime.  The skills learnt in Expedition Base’s mountaineering courses translate to peaks you may climb in Nepal and all around the world, subject of course to any specific local conditions.
Unlike many countries where such courses can be conducted at lower altitudes with easy access to locations for the courses, in Nepal the courses are best conducted in the mountains, and these are generally at higher altitudes, so you need to trek into the mountains in order to participate in the courses and to reach the best locations – including snow and ice terrain.  Therefore, the courses are best if they form part of a trek or climb that you are doing with Expedition Base in Nepal.
