| Makalu Advance Base Camp Trek with 'Project Base 8000'Makalu Advance Base Camp – Sherpani Col
Route: Kathmandu – Tumlingtar – Seduwa – Makalu Advance Base Camp – Sherpani Col – Amphu Lapcha - Kathmandu For this trek, expect to be challenged in a way that is hard to beat when it comes to high altitude trekking. This is one of the most compelling treks that you could ever do. This is a remote trek, on paths less travelled and you won’t pass through many villages as you near Mt Makalu (8485m), the summit of which stands 3km above its base camp. The snow laden route over Sherpani Col (6,180m), Baruntse Camp 1 (West Col) (6,190m) and Amphu Lapcha (5,845m) into the Everest valley involves traversing what some would call the highest and hardest passes in the Himalaya. Expect to be blown away by the awe-inspiring views that make this an experience of a lifetime. Be prepared to be flexible as the itinerary may change due to unforeseen circumstances such as changing weather, snow or trail conditions or river water levels. Your guide will keep you informed. To try to keep costs down for this trek, for the portion after Makalu Advance Base Camp until before Chukhung, instead of providing a dining tent and cook, this trek contemplates that your guide will cook for you and you will eat your meals ‘al fresco’ (weather permitting) or in your personal sleeping tent. If you want a challenging Himalayan trek with some basic mountaineering skills thrown into the mix, then this is the trek for you! | |
