Wilderness First Aid course

(3 Days)
This course is designed for any individual interested in the basics of providing emergency care, and can be applied to both urban and wilderness situations. The outdoors environment nearly always means that a casualty is attended to for a longer time scale without emergency facilities than is typical in an urban setting. The WFA course focuses on the basic skills of:
  • Response and Assessment
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
  • Environmental Emergencies
  • Survival Skills
  • Soft Tissue Injuries and Medical Emergencies
All of our outdoor first aid courses look at how to manage these remote outdoor situations and the patient appropriately

Wilderness First Responder course

(9 days)
The Wilderness First Responder course is the perfect course for anyone working in a position of leadership in an outdoor setting or for individuals who want a high level of wilderness medical training for extended personal backcountry trips or expeditions. It covers the same topics as the 3 day WFA course and the 5 day AWFA course but the WFR course does so far more extensively, introduces additional conditions and their treatment and there is much more time for hands-on practice. This course is typically the entry-level requirement for working in the outdoors industry abroad.

Earthquake First Aid course

By a special request, we can provide a customized first aid course to deal with the most likely issues arising from an earthquake situation.

The different topics that will be taught include CPR for adults and children, the Primary and Secondary Assessment Systems, shock, fractures & splinting, soft tissue injuries and bandaging, spine and head injuries, and burns. It is not necessary to attend all of the days if you have personal commitments, it will be possible to join in the future course subject to space being available. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Advanced Wilderness First Aid course

(5 Days)

This 5 day course is appropriate for group leaders, outdoor professionals and the outdoor enthusiast who may be away from immediate medical help for more than a day.

The Advanced Wilderness First Aid course builds on the 3 day WFA course going into greater depth on the basic first aid subjects, emphasizes leadership skills, and presents new skills such as building improvised litters and litter carrying. As the course is also quite short, you will gain the maximum benefit from it if you are already familiar with basic first aid concepts and practices. On previous courses, you will most likely have learned reactive first aid; on this advanced course you will learn to make proactive decisions among other skills.
