This trip involves challenging, long, trekking days at a slow place, on uneven terrain, with some hills, carrying a backpack weighing around 8-12 kg. Therefore, you want to have a good level of fitness, with cardiovascular exercise and own-body weight type exercises (or similar) at least 4 times per week for the period of around 4-6 months before this trip. Training on uneven terrain is recommended.

Day 5Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m / 4,500m)
Day 6Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut (4,730m) (1-2 hours)
Day 7Kibo Hut to Summit, descend to Horombo Hut (5,895m) (12-16 hrs)
Day 8Horombo Hut to Moshi (900m) (5-6hrs)
Day 9Depart for home, or Wildlife Safari starts! (850m)
